Kasaï Masaï
Friday July 20th - 7.45pm - £9.00
Exactly what you’d expect from a Friday night Fringe band, a dance-the-night-away world music blend of traditional African sounds with a 21st-century edge.

A 5-piece outfit, consisting of d’jembe, guitar, saxophone, bass
and drum, Kasaï Masaï play the traditional sound of the most remote
equatorial villages with an added urban twist.
Named after the river Kasai, which lies in the heart of the Congo rain forest, where many tribes such as the Pygmies still maintain their traditional lifestyles, the Masai, like the Baka, are a dignified people whose life still centres around a nomadic existence.
“Kasaï Masaï successfully marry a respect for vintage grooves with
an overwhelming urge to move the dance floor. This is the sound
of the old and the new, of the countryside and the city, from deep
in the heart of Africa.” Nige Tassell - Womad Festival.
