An Evening of Flamenco and Samba with Simon James, Karamba Samba and Deian Timms
Simon James is no stranger to the Llangollen Fringe. He and his guitar have featured in three “celebrity” nights in previous years - and this year he deservedly gets the spotlight to himself.
Simon’s playing and compositions, including improvisation and exploration, follow the solo Flamenco guitar playing tradition of Paco De Lucia and Paco Peña, with whom he has studied.
Karamba Samba are a band of nearly 20 players from all walks of life, all passionate and proud of the vivacious Latin music of the Carnaval, which they make together. Karamba Samba has performed at the opening day’s ceremonies of the Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod for several years and tonight they open - and close! - in spirited fiesta fashion the Fringe’s evening of flamenco and samba.
Deian Timms is a young local guitar player from Llangollen who made his Fringe debut last year, supporting Juan Martin and on Stage 2. He has been playing for 8 years now, particularly enjoying flamenco and South American guitar music.
